The deadbolt in this set...

The deadbolt in this set is a lower security design. For highest security deadbolt get the knob and deadbolt separately. Ball shaped knobs are the best. Most comfortable to the hand. They discontinued the larger and stronger kwikset ball shaped knobs I installed years ago so I can't get exact matching for the added doors and this one was fine in polished brass when one needed to be replaced years ago. So I got this one for the new doors but it isn't as well built and nickel looks cheap. Installation is typical and as usual kwickset lock cylinders are upside down so you have to use a special tool to flip them over. I like the way kwikset lock mechanism locks the inside knob from turning when locked so you can be certain it is locked. I love smartkey. It has been handy for changing a lock when workers had to have a key. Unfortunately polished brass is discontinued so I have to go with a different brand or get a finish that does not match the hinges and everything else on every door in the house. The current kwikset finishes are either cheep looking nickel or ugly and I would have to change them all and the hinges and the peep hole and the storm door. So do I go with a different brand that matches the finish of all doors? Install a non matching finish on all doors so they all are a mix of polished brass hardware and something else? Really not a choice. Other brand has ball shaped knob and polished brass so if I have to change them all, it still wins. I lose only a knob that doesn't turn when locked.

Just installed these lock sets...

Just installed these lock sets on 2 of 4 doors. Design of screw attachment for the regular door know is not so good. Cover plate can't be rotated to allow access to screws. Had to keep taking the inside know off, adjusting the screws inward, then reattaching the know and rotating to lock screws into their base. Also, would have been nice if an offset screw driver had been included, or at least mentioned the need, as a straight one barely seated well enough to tighten the screws. And, I'm confused about the keys provided. I understand how to set to new keys, but the keys provided only have a few peaks, unlike most keys. Do I use these without concern, or should I have a new key cut and then re-key the locks? Would have been nice to get a regular key with it. 2 more doors to go, then I'll return to HD to get a "new" key. Set looks good, though.

I recently upgraded my exterior door knobs with the Kwikset knobs because of the feature allowing me to key them to one key instead of a different key for each door. The installation and re-keying was a breeze.\nThe downside is that some of my doors are right opening and some are left opening so some of the doors now have the key slot upside down (teeth facing down instead of up). I did not see anything on the boxes designating whether they were for left opening or right opening doors so I assumed the cylinder could be flipped over by the home owner. There are no instructions included for flipping the cylinder so I'm guessing either I need a locksmith to do it or it's not doable.

I bought this deadbolt for a door leading to our garage. It did require drilling the holes for the door, and I found the drilling and assembly instructions to be very good, though on my computer I could not make a paper copy of them that wasn't postage-stamp-size without losing some of the steps. The online hole-drilling guide, however, was perfectly-sized when I printed that. My door was 2 1/4". I was able to buy and receive the deadbolt itself online within 48 hours, but could not find the "thick-door-kit" anywhere, and even through the most famous online retailer, I had to wait a miserable 2 weeks for it to arrive. Why??? Otherwise, a fine deadbolt.

I have this lock throughout the house, so it is not a new product to me. Have used the Kwikset pro\\ducts for years. I was changing doors yesterday and adding the new lockset and I could not get the door knob "halves" to screw to gethet with the two long 8-32 screws. One would only go in part way.I finally figured that the hole was not tapped to the full depth. Instead of running back to the store, I substituted a shorter screw to get the assembly together, Something you might want to check out in your production facility.\r\nI can honestly say, I have never run into this problem with any locket in 50+ years.

Overall, I like the standardization of the Kwikset locksets, and how easily I can swap them out. Given that other doors have the 'smart' programmable locks, rekeying multiple doors is as easy as buying a new lockset for one door, then taking less than a minute per other lock to reprogram them to the new key, giving a single key access to multiple doors a a minimal cost.

Good looking hardware for our door. Easy to replace the old unit when we moved into our new house. I absolutely LOVE that you can rekey this and other Kwikset locks; just be sure to buy the right ones. This way one key for all your doors! I took one star off because I feel it is a bit pricey. Other than that this is a solid product from a trusted name.

It was my understanding based on the description that this lock set said it had SmartKey Technology that would allowed me to rekey the lock to match the rest of the doors without going to a lock smith.. I did not see this in the direction once I opened the package or the special tool to complete the task.

A full set of Chrome Hancock locks were installed in my new house in 1999. A couple of them have failed after extensive use. No problem though - with Kwikset's lifetime warranty to the original owner, they were replaced after a phone call. The original installed versions were not the smart key type. The newer smart key type avoids the trip to the locksmith to match the rest of the house. One gripe about the newer version - they are more difficult to remove from the door than the original version which were held to the door via machine screws. All in all great locks with a great warranty.

My dad recommended Kwikset for new locks. It was an easy change over. Struggled a little to get the right fit for the door handle. Overall a good purchase and easy enough to install. Dead bolt works well and feels very secure.

Good quality product but the instructions were sketchy at best and the print was very small. I like the fact that one key will open two doors (knob and dead bolt on both) when you buy the set.

Maybe this would work for others. Having a key for both sides of the deadbolt not ideal. The knob itself was too stiff to turn easily. Color was a good match though. Ended up returning it.

My only complaint is the exterior color. All my others are bright brass so this sticks out like a sore thumb. Needed double cylinder deadbolts and these were the only ones you carried.

Accoding to the reviews, Kwikset locks eventually malfunction to where the keys will not lock or unlock it. I haven't encountered that problem in my life with Kwikset, so I feel it is a lock like any other lock. I realize it is not the absolute best, but I am happy to have changed my locks at all. I have always liked Kwikset, and I hope they continue to live up to my expectations. The look is the same as the advertised photos. I have not taken any pictures, so kindly take my word for it. They look as they are advertised. Pretty.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I put these on every door in my house 14 doors in all everything from front and back door to the bedrooms,bathrooms,walk in closet's and pantry.so when i go on vacation every door is lock to hopefuly slow down the thief or keep them out of some of the rooms.and with smartkey,I was able to key them all the same mayself and if I get a roomate I can key just the locks I want them to get into mayself.and when they move out I can rekey all the locks to make shur they dont come back.

These are excellent door knobs. Our builder installed Kwikset knobs throughout our home on interior doors and on the exterior doors with Smartkey. When one exterior entry knob failed after a couple of years, Kwikset immediately sent out a replacement. I followed the enclosed instructions and the knob functions perfectly. With the Smartkey function I was able to easily rekey the knob to match my old key. No need to call a locksmith. Didn't even have to bother my husband to replace it! Love these things! Thanks Kwikset!!

Being in a mainly rural area, my customers want security and good products, but can't afford many options that are on the market. Kwikset has been a God send for most all of my customers. This knob in particular has been VERY popular and I recommend it to anyone who wants security, design and an affordable price. I haven't had any problems with Kwikset products. They hold up very well.

Bought this as replacement for exterior door locking knob that was old and worn out. HIGHLY IMPRESSED with easy instructions/installation. Took all of 10 minutes including reviewing instructs. The re-keying feature was Flawless- worked like a champ so we could keep using our old key which matches all our other exterior doors. A bonus was knob pre-assembled so no need to fumble with getting the 2 knob screws proper setting depth etc. Going fwd I will only buy Kwikset!!

I own several of these , only one failed in 12 years and it is being promptly replaced by Kwikset ! The Poster that gave a 1 Star Rating failed to realize that there are an Inner and an Outer plate and that the two must align in-order to install the screws . PS there is a small alignment tab on either side to help with this . (Older models don't have this feature , but I can clearly see from his pictures that his is a newer model )
