Patient comfort during procedures such as IUD insertion is important to discuss. Many Women have described getting the procedure without any anesthesia or pain medication at all and have described it as “more painful than labor”. While not everyone will require anesthesia, everyone has a different pain tolerance and an anesthetic plan should be made with your Doctor prior to the procedure. This can be as minimal as only local anesthesia to IV anesthesia for those with lower pain tolerance/needle
